Klondike Derby – January 19
January 14, 2008This year’s Japeechen District Klondike Derby will be held Saturday, Jan. 19th at Northmoreland Park. This event will cover a number of scout skills and team effort events. Click here for further details – this event looks like it will be a lot of fun. We are looking for a good turnout from our troop, which is one of the largest in the District. Best of all, the Troop is covering the cost for all who participate. Afterwards, we’ll stop somewhere for dinner or go back to Parkwood for pizza.
Hope to see you there!
January 8 Meeting
January 1, 2008Our 1st regular meeting of 2008 will be next Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 7:30 at Parkwood. During the 1st part of the meeting we’ll do some specific planning for 1st Aid scenarios at the March 15, 2008 First Aid Meet — a District wide event our Troop is leading.
And then we’ll move on to the main event – the 3rd Annual Scouts vs. Adults Dodgeball Competition. All Dads, Moms, college age Scouts (and any retired professional athletes out there) are invited to round out the Adults’ team. Actually, they are not just invited, they are desperately needed. For once again this year, we adults are obliged to prove to you scouts that age and experience will always prevail over youthful overconfidence. So adults, come over to Parkwood that evening– even if you prefer to skip the dodgeball, you’re needed to cheer on the adult team.
If you don’t know what this event is like, be sure to click here for a link to photos from last year’s event.
Cookies and drinks will be served afterward, so be sure to put this event on your agenda now.
Coat Drive Service Project – Thursday, October 11
October 9, 2007The North Hills Community Outreach Center recently held its coat drive and is asking once again for Troop 17’s help in sorting and carrying coats from the Outreach Center to Activity Room at St Paul’s Church on Ferguson Road . This is taking place on Thursday, October 11 between 6 and 7 pm. Anyone who would like to help please call or email Dr. Bergman as soon as possible. We need to let the Outreach Center know how many volunteers we will be able to provide. Our help was greatly appreciated last year and we made quick work of the pile of coats. This will count for community service hours for those of you needing that for high school and for those of you needing it for advancement.
Parent Leadership Survey
October 9, 2007One of the reasons our Troop is so successful is because of our adult leadership. If you haven’t completed this year’s leadership survey form, please click here and turn it in as soon as possible.
